Greater Omaha and Food Bank for the Heartland Announce Protein Partnership
OMAHA, NE (Jun 2025) – Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc. and Food Bank for the Heartland are proud to announce an ongoing partnership providing consistent, high-quality protein to families facing hunger across its 93-county service area. Beginning June 17, Greater Omaha Packing has committed to donating 1,000 pounds of ground beef every month to Food Bank for the Heartland.
Protein remains one of the most requested and hardest-to-source food items for hunger relief organizations. This monthly donation will help fill that critical gap, providing nutritious beef to thousands of individuals in need.

This partnership aligns with the Food Bank’s future vision. The nonprofit is on schedule to move into its new facility on 84th & L Street in Omaha by January 2026. Once complete, the expanded space will feature a 514% increase in protein repack capacity and a 63% increase in cooler and freezer space, dramatically improving the organization’s ability to distribute fresh, healthy food.
